Music

While watching and enjoying the tree lighting concert in New York last night this though occurred. “What would .this world be like without music?”
It has the unique power to comfort as well as entertain. There are few, if any significant happenings that do not include it.
Most of our earlier music experiences were through the music of the Church. Some of us expanded our association through country music with music of the classics to come later.
God, in all his wisdom, knew exactly what he was doing in its creation.
Your comments in this regard would be welcomed.

Living life without music would be like living life without emotion. I think music is a very special way to communicate feelings that go beyond words.
What I’m most interested in now is the research proving the benefits not only on the brain but the entire physical being. I think those of us who were fortunate enough to have been exposed to such quality training early on have always known what science is now validating.
It is one of the greatest gifts of my life. It’s even hard for me to talk about. I am forever grateful to those who played such an important part helping me learn, not only how to appreciate, but how to make music.

The ability to create and enjoy creation, as in music, is part of our being made in God's image. Now, some of what passes for music today - I'm not so sure where that comes from, but it has a smoky smell.

I agree, Mr. Polk. Music speaks to something in us the way nothing else does. I'm so grateful that I stumbled into a music appreciation class in college that produced a love of serious music, including classical and even operatic, that I would never have developed if left to my own devices. Thank you, God, for giving us music to soothe our souls.

I’m so thankful I grew up in a music loving family. Music has been a big part of my life. Introduced first by my Dad with the Big Band Era, school band, played flute in my church in Virginia, rocking and singing to my children. Daddy’s little SCAB band delighted him. 🎶 🎼. Much appreciated Hal Poke having patience with me.

From the beginning, Syd Doty, Youth Choir Director, Forest Baptist Church, who taught us things about life after practice.

For Martha Hayes, Choral Director, who made you sing each note in a chord to prove you knew your part. She needs no introduction because she dedicated her life to Education.

To Hal Polk, who taught you how to play your instrument and be part of a team that competed to win All Superior ratings every year. Sight reading a new piece in 5 minutes followed by performing it in competition is still one of the most exciting things I’ve ever done. The will to compete and win is innate.

God bless all teachers & influencers who blessed our lives.

Finally, a shout out to Motown Artists,The Beatles, Eric Clapton & Stevie Ray Vaughn. 🎸🎹🎺🎷🥁 Music is universal.
