Bluebirds are Back

I saw bluebirds on my walk today and I thought about the postings that Mr. Polk used to make about seeing these beautiful birds.

Becky, since the days of staying home and social distancing have begun, I have become a “front porch sitter.” I moved some wicker chairs, cushions, and pillows from my patio to my front porch and spend a lot of time there. It’s an opportunity to chat with neighbors as they stroll by. The first of this week, I saw my first bluebird. I thought he paid a timely visit. I had floods of memories of Mr P and his fondness for those precious birds. I’m glad you had a similar experience.

There are four tiny eggs in the box that Hal built and has watched for several years. Bluebirds have inhabited that box for the past three years. Last spring Hal would sit outside in the late afternoon and watch the male and female entering and exiting the box. It brought him joy and he would be so pleased that birds are there this year. Joyce...this made my morning to read about your seeing the bluebirds this year. I have seen several bluebirds...and quite a few red cardinals. We are continuing to keep you close in thoughts....miss Mr. P so much😪. Much love💞

We have bluebirds in the bluebird house that Mr. Polk gave us. We had 2 nestings last year and have one now. Butch and I enjoy sitting out and watching them come and go as they tend to their young. The babies should be leaving the nest soon. We hope we will have another nesting this season.
The bluebirds never left us last year. They stayed with us all winter.
