Checking on Bearcat Buddies

I’ve been missing the kinds of chats we have had on this site. Little bits and pieces of greetings from all over. Right now I feel we are all in differing modes of some type of quarantine. Roving Reporter has not been able to Rove! And has anyone had a good pineapple sandwich lately? What about books? Did you make it to the library before the big shut down? And, other than Steve!!, has anyone given themselves a haircut? I would REALLY like to hear about that!

It goes without saying that I KNOW some of you, being the diligent, productive people that you are, now have sparkling, perfectly organized living spaces and properly stocked pantries. Not I!! About the third day into “stay at home” I started a much needed closet purge. Got started and then realized I had no place to take the discards. Now what. So I shoved it back into the closet, got a snack, and read a book. The end.

I hope everyone is healthy. That’s the main thing right now. If you have anything at all that you would like to share about how you’ve spent your time and what revelations you might have had....please do. We may never have this much free time again. Enjoy.

I been giving myself haircuts, and can't tell any difference. I'd even say they look pretty good, except that would set Rigby off with some snarky comment about how I look ordinarily, ad I don't want to do that. Leaving, DV, in ten days for a week in the twisties of Appalachia in the motorcycle.

Robert, I have to ask what "DV" stands for. This seems like the best time to go off into the wilderness.

Panzey, did you see my response to your question on a thread above? DV stands for the Latin Deo Volente. Means Lord Willing.

Robert, I did see your response at some point after I had forgotten the question. :-) Bo had given me the answer. I'm curious whether you remembered that from high school Latin or if you knew it from another source.

HS Latin?!?! Amo, Amas, Amat. There. Now you know my whole repertoire of Latin stuff. I learned DV from Al Freundt who was our pastor in Forest. Only thing he ever said that I remembered. I wasn't all that much into the faith at that time, you might remember - part of the reason for my 1960-1961 exile, I expect.

Robert, those are the same three words that I remember from Latin. Were they the first ones we learned? I didn't realize that lack of faith was responsible for your antics. :-)

You would expect something else from a churched pagan? My main problem was that I didn't keep mine under control as some of the rest of us in the same boat did.

Well Karen and I have been ramblin . Today we left Carthage, went to Vicksburg headed North on Hwy 61. When we got to Hwy 1 we turned North on it and headed up thru the Delta. To make a long story short we hit Hwy 82 at Greenville went to Winona took Hwy 51 to Hwy 35 and back home. This was Karen and my 2nd ramblin and my 4th. Gas is cheap, just don’t get out of your vehicle unless you just have to. Y’all be careful out there now, ya hear.

How long did that take you, Steve? Hope you packed a lunch. Or found a drive thru. About a year ago, I rode with daughter Kim to a little town in La to take a deposition. We rode down 55 and stayed overnight in Greenwood. Next morning we crossed the River at Greenville and drove south a couple hours to the little town which I’ve forgotten the name of but she had been warned it had no cell service. Now you know why she let me go with her. It was a cute little town with a quaint Courthouse Square which I walked around, enjoyed, and had lunch while she worked. We left about 5 that afternoon, crossed the River at Greenville again, and I was stunned that GPS was not taking us back to 55. But Kim really trusts and depends on GPS much more than she listens to her mother....so here we go turning north on some little road with me protesting that it HAD to be River Road and we would be driving all night long. She didn’t listen. Wisely. We ended up on the nicest, low traffic 4 lane rd I’ve seen in a long time. Went through Cleveland as I remember. We went on north, connected to 269, and right on into C Ville.

Glenda Sessions Brown and the FHS Reminiscing Photos!

If you have not checked out Glenda’s collection of priceless photos, please do. She started saving and organizing photos posted on this Site from the very beginning. Our original Site was not the best place to save them. We needed a place to permanently store hundreds of photos, and she has worked diligently to do this.
