A Sad Day in Forest

Today we lost Don Triplett. I think everyone in Forest will pause and have a sweet, sweet memory of Don. Not only was he a Bearcat, but he taught all of us about love and patience. He was loyal and giving to his hometown in so many unnoticed ways. He changed many lives. Condolences to his family and many, many friends.

Don’s death made the national TV news

Don’s death was prominently featured on the national evening TV news tonight, Friday, June 16. Forest was also shown in a very positive light. A great picture of Don was shown as well as a clip of the documentary “In a Different Light”. The fact that Don was the first person ever to be clinically diagnosed with Autism in the United States was stressed.

He was widely considered the first person to be diagnosed with autism. His happy life later became the subject of a book and documentary.

Man another Forest Icon gone. Don was one of the best people I’ve ever known and Forest will miss him.
I know most of you know this but Don was the first person ever to be diagnosed with Autism. He was featured in a special a few years ago, sorry but I cant remember what network it was on.

I think this was taken by Glenda Brown, our picture lady, at one of our early “Nabs Party Friday Night Dinners” held at the Country Club in Forest. Pure joy on this proud Bearcat’s face! He did love those Jane Tadlock catered dinners!!

I believe this photo was taken at the first Nabs & Coke Friday Night Dinner at the Forest Country Club. Don was loved and respected by his Bearcat friends and by the town he spent his life in. He had a remarkable life. So glad I had the privilege of knowing him.

Don was a true Forest “gem” who truly left his footprints in our hearts. We were blessed to have known him, and the world is a more understanding community because of his family and his sharing his life story with us.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family🙏❤️🙏.

What an awesome human! The world needs more Don Tiplets and we are all blessed by knowing him. Prayers for his family and those who have been touched by his life.
