New FHS Principal

Congratulations to Matt Wade who has been approved as the new high school principal at Forest High School. Matt is the son of Chuck Wade who was a standout basketball player at FHS and later principal at Forest Middle School. I know that my aunt Dorothy (his grandmother) is smiling down at him right now.

Congratulations to Matt Wade who reigns from the lineage of a strong Forest family! It speaks volumes that he has already put into action the steps to reintroduce a choral/music program at FHS! (Thank you, Robert Hays, for encouraging this action!)
I look forward to reading about the ongoing success of our beloved FHS!

I ask EVERYONE reading this to contact Mr. Wade and request that he make reinstating a choral music program HIGH PRIORITY. It is unconscionable that a school like FHS should not have one!

I am guessing, but looking at all the staff email addresses, I expect his is mwade@forest.k12.ms.us. Join me on this. I cannot help but believe that he will be more sympathetic than the previous administrator. I sent one to that address and it didn't come back.

Well, it worked. Here is Mr. Wade's response to mine asking for the choral music program to be resurrected.

Mr. Hays,

Thank you for your kind words and for reaching out to express your passion for the choral music program at Forest High School. I truly appreciate your connection to our school and your family’s legacy—especially the lasting impact your mother made through her dedication to the arts.

I’m excited to share that we have taken steps to reintroduce choir at FHS. While we’re starting small this year, we see this as a strong first step toward rebuilding a vibrant program. Our goal is to grow it steadily and provide our students with opportunities to perform, develop their talent, and eventually compete in choral events across the state once again.

It’s important to us to honor the history and contributions of those who came before us, and I’m hopeful that this renewed focus will reflect the spirit of the program your mother so lovingly built.

Thank you again for your support and continued interest in Forest High School. I’d be happy to keep you updated on our progress as we move forward.

Robert, I'm impressed by Mr. Wade's literate response. I don't know who his English teachers were, but I think his writing would have received an "A" in your mother's class.

Great news, Robert! It’s heartwarming to know that FHS will provide opportunities for a choral program again. I’m hopeful that interest and participation will grow as time goes forward. Thanks to Principal Wade for considering the importance of this and I’m sure it will be a bright spot for FHS. Good luck to the new choral department and please keep us updated on concerts and community events.

Superb first step in building a program that Forest will be extremely proud. Thanks Robert for spearheading this effort. I have many fond memories of your mother and the impact she had on many of us.

Wow! Congratulations to all the Wades and friends. Yes, Larry, your Aunt Dorothy, a long time neighbor of my family, would be so proud. Such a wonderful family.
