In order to display directly a flickr photo, I did the following (there is probably an easier way - also having a picture on your own web site/web space is perhaps easier also)
When on the flickr page with the picture I wanted to display,
- did File , then Save Page As, then Web page complete and saved the Flickr page - this saved a file and a folder with all of the files from the flickr web page
- viewed that folder and found the name of the file that had the large size of the picture I wanted ... in this case it was 8266757673_27285b9651_z.jpg
- once I knew the name of the picture (the name that flickr was using) I did Tools, Web Developer, Page Source and then searched ( by doing Edit, then Find) for that name - I then saw that the page source had this line ...
meta property="og:image" content="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8491/8266747673_27285b9651_z.jpg"
and so then I could put in the URL of that picture into to the Image field in the msg board as
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8491/8266747673_27285b9651_z.jpg
- posted a message on the message board, and clicked on the image button at the bottom,
putting in that image location - http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8491/8266747673_27285b9651_z.jpg
making sure I did not get a TWO "http://" at the front of the Optional Image URL box.
Then I clicked on Preview to see if it worked OK.
and it did, so then I clicked on Post.
Whew!!!
A long way to go, but it does work.
