Re: Question for all PGCA glass collectors
I generally collect the older glasses, and prefer the glasses from the 1930's and 1940's. However I also have several niche collections, and will add glasses to the collection no matter what era they were made - the niches include American Ceramics Society glasses, glasses with "herps" on them - "herps" include reptiles, snakes, amphibians like frogs, turtles, etc. Only cartoon or realistic ones, not budwieser frogs or zoo glasses. I also collect Simpsons glasses, which are of course much newer and include very new issues. I have a large assortment of the "toon tumblers from popfun, which are new, and also like glasses about movies/tv/entertainment, from all eras. So my answer is pretty mixed I guess. When I started to collect 25 years ago I wanted every glass that was made, but I realized quite soon that there were too many to get, and could not afford the money or the space or the effort to do so. I think I have sold off about 90% of all the glasses that I have bought over the years, but still have an attic full of them. I also collect several "styles" of Warner Brothers and that includes new glasses, and collect the 1973 WB series with all of the variations, of which I sold of my original "set" that was mostly, but not all, complete, and am working now on the second "set" which is also mostly, but not all, complete.
