I enjoyed reading the column and picked up a couple glasses. Then at a Depression Glass show I saw a Welch's Warner Brothers single character jelly glass, it was yosemite sam, and I was pretty sure that I had that glass, but I noticed it had a character's face embossed on the bottom, and when I turned it over I realized there were different faces on the bottom, and this combination was one I did not have! I bought the glass, I was hooked, and once I bought the Chase Kelly book, I was hooked for good.
Still collecting and buying glasses - in fact I bought some (3) Welchs Flintstone glasses last month at a flea market for 10 cents each - surely the lowest price ever for Welchs glasses, amazing after all this time.
I have got glasses at lots of places - flea markets, garage sales, antique shops and malls, resale shops and thrift shops, PGCA meetings. I have not bought much on Ebay, only a few times from club members. I also slowly but surely got started collecting the plastic cups (tumblers and mugs) and have amassed a large, interesting collection, of which I have never sold anything, and also have never sorted it out or arranged it, so I am not sure what I have and don't have - I use to have some 50 or so sets arranged in my basement, but once I moved it all got boxed up. I still sometimes (not often but regularly) see decent glasses at thrift shops and garage sales, but I almost never see good, old plastic cups. I think most of them have been put into the trash over the years.
