I went to a large High School garage sale today, Sat, got a couple Mobil Coke NFL glasses and Coke Holly Hobbie glasses for a quarter each - I had sworn off H. Hobbie for years, but caved in at the 25 cents level. Also found at thrift shops the 16th and 17th years of Indiana Derby glasses, each with local tie ins. On a trip to VA we visited one shop each day, and I bought a group of 8 Pepsi - Catch that Pepsi Spirit glasses, they had white lettering in the "pebbly" textured style (if you know what I mean). Also found a nifty SMU Football Song Series glass - #17 with PERUNA song on the reverse - I always buy these song series football glasses when I see them, if any where near a reasonable price, as they are hard to find, this one was $4 and in great shape. I also got an interesting Coke glass but already sold it so I can't fully describe it, was a modern glass with panels and I think had a Santa, red and white letters. Finally, got 4 nice glasses from Sean Will on Ebay listings - 3 Star Trek and a Star Wars Yoda glass, and another Simpsons glass for my collection from Carl on his Ebay listings and a friend gave me an Indianapolis 500 Bud beer glass that was neat. I also have been trying to complete the interesting set of plastic cups that were recent McDonald Happy Meal prizes - they were from the Lego Movie. Unikitty, Batman, Emmet, Wyldsyde, Vitruvius, Metalbeard, Bad Cop and Lord Business are the 8 characters. They are "lenticular" cups where when you move the cup the image changes. Example, the "Bad cop" goes to "Good cop" when you rotate the cup somewhat. Interesting I thought that these cups were the actual and only "toy" in the Happy Meal. The link below has nice pictures of the cups. Forgive me for going on about plastic, instead of glass - but glasses are pretty scarce at fast food places these days, in fact decent plastic cups are scarce, as most places have gone to pretty dull foam type cups. I would love it if McD would have made real glasses like these cups.
