Guys that are capable are available every year. The Packers would not have had to suffer the Hundley year with a competent back up QB.
The Packers have been spoiled by the stellar QB play from their starting QBs for quite a long time now, but that does not mean that they should ignore the back up spot.
Heck Tim Tebow was a back up and took the broncos to the playoffs and won. Tim freaking Tebow, Hundley only beat the very worst teams in the league, and those were in overtime. The rest of the cast was basically the same as Rodgers was working with.
There is better QB than Kizer available, I have no doubt about that. I dont care if its a young guy with something to prove to the world or an old grizled vet, like Brunnell was in Washington when he came in as a back up and led the team to the playoffs. There is a competent backup somewhere out there and Gutey ought to be working to get on into town.
Gute has never had a winning season as an NFL GM. If Rodgers gets injured early this season and Kizer and Boyle are your only options. Gute may never ever get to have a winning season in the NFL as he wont be in charge of any NFL teams any longer.
How much losing are you willing to tolerate because the management will not provide adequate replacement for the MVP in case of injury. There was only one Brett Favre
