Prior to the draft, Packers trade Rodgers to the Jets for the 13th overall pick and a conditional 2024 2nd round pick.
Pick 13: Brian Branch, Safety, Alabama. I still think Amos returns to the Packers, but he'd likely return on a one-year deal, giving the Packers two safeties on one-year deals. Branch comes in as the safety of the future. Good athlete, big hitter, good ball skills. Can play box or single high if need be.
TRADE! Packers trade picks 15 and 78 to Seattle for picks 20 and 37.
Pick 20: Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Wide Receiver, Ohio State. If the Packers take JSN, it'll be a Matt LaFleur move, not a Brian Gutekunst. JSN has average size and has average speed. But he's an exceptional route runner, has above average moves off the LOS, and has good hands. He's not Davante by any means, but he wins in similar ways, which compliments the skill sets of Watson and Doubs.
Pick 37: Calijah Kancey, IDL, Pittsburgh. Here's an even bigger dart throw than JSN. Kancey is 6'0, 280 pounds, and plays on the interior defensive line. Kancey is a passrushing, penetrating style DL. He wins with motor, effort, and crazy athleticism. If you're wondering "why would the Packers do that when they just drafted Devonte Wyatt?" I'll remind you that drafting good players shouldn't stop a team from drafting other good players.
Pick 45: Darnell Wright, OT, Tennessee. 6'6 335lbs, started three seasons at RT and one season at LT. Big boy, strong with good hands. Not the most athletic which hurts his chances of wearing green and gold, but he'd bring immediate depth to the offensive line.
Pick 116: Brevin Spann-Ford, TE, Minnesota. 6'7, 270 lbs. Despite his obvious size, he's not necessarily a staunch in-line blocker. Spann-Ford is more of a do-it-all TE who isn't really great at anything, but solid at many things.
Pick 151: Jose Ramirez, EDGE, Eastern Michigan. You know what I like to see from prospects? Guys who increase snap counts every year. Ramirez has grown every year at Eastern Michigan as he learns the position. 6'2, 250lbs, he'll probably need to bulk up and add some functional strength.
Pick 171: Drake Nugent, C, Stanford. I don't believe in helmet scouting, but some exceptions can be made. Iowa TEs, Miami DBs, and in this case, Stanford OL. Solid all-around OL, but not elite in any one particular area. With Josh Myers struggling this year, I think they absolutely grab an IOL in this years draft.
TRADE! Packers trade picks 225 and 257 to Dallas for pick 212
Pick 212: Cameron Latu, TE, Alabama. Set the Alabama record for TDs by a TE in 2021, but he suffered an injury during training camp in 2022. Latu is not going to win in-line, but put him in the slot and he'll thrive.
Pick 234: Jaren Hall, QB, BYU. He's a backup. That's it. But no matter what happens with the Packers QB situation, they're going to need a backup QB.
Pick 244: Ryan Greenhagen, LB, Fordham. Good range and good athleticism who has great special teams potential and a situational LB.
