I don't get all the hand wringing over this. In my mind the points are all moot and nothing but media speculation.

Rodgers is under contract with the Packers for the next two years.

So is Jordan Love, if they exercise the fifth year option.

I simply look at it from the perspective of Gutenkunst, who is really the one in charge here. He knows he can win with Rodgers if he shores up the teams weaknesses and his job is pretty much secure until Rodgers presumably retires at the end of the contract. At which point his job is most likely secure for the next three years. I think he would rather start that three year with a new quarterback cushion two years down the road than this season.
