Not really sure why anyone would want to agree with Rodgers when he said the packers moved on. This isn’t true. Rodgers dragged his feet., after they gave him time to think. He should have had an answer by the end of February. Otherwise the packers have to assume you’re not going to be fully committed. If you are you would be ecstatic to tell them immediately yes let’s run it back and this year I will 100% be in the building. I no longer think the young players need time with the coaches without me. I understand now the young guys need time with me.
Umm yeah sure the packers have wronged Rodgers and If you didn’t get that feeling of what Rodgers was indicating I disagree with you. Rodgers 100% was throwing shade at the Packers.
The whole 90% retiring - made up story. It also is a Made up story that doesn’t help the packers trading him to the jets for fair value.
But one parting gift Rodgers did give packers is by saying he plans on being a NY Jet, he’s excited to play in NY
- which sorry Yoop, I have to remind you., you indicated Rodgers wouldn’t want the drama that comes with being in NY, I’m not sure why you felt that way, but he clearly does want that, he said so on the Pat show. He’s excited to play in the State of NY. He said it.
My point is Rodgers saying he wants to be a Jet along with all the money the jets organization will make from Rodgers tv ratings, merchandise, ticket sales., daily team sports news., will give the packers an upper hand in negotiating because they don’t have to do anything. Without Rodgers the jets stand to lose way more money than the packers will lose by carrying two QBs.
- I strongly think the jets are currently playing chicken with this idea. Yes in a sense packers need to hope jets owner decides the risk of losing Rodgers is not worth keeping #13.
the below video I believe is quite accurate in regards to Rodgers rants about the packers and were the leverage truly is.
For all the peeps who want to do right by Rodgers, I ask you to go back 5 years and really listen to all of the interviews done by Rodgers. Really listen to him. Rodgers yes is a legend and yes he is apart of packer history, he should be celebrated, his number should be retired. Yes all of that., but he should be traded for peanuts. Umm no.
The packers told him after the season come 100% committed and we’re ready to run it back with you again. It was a fair request. He was unable to do that and instead needed until one week before free agency to claim he was 90% sure he was gonna retire. No he wasn’t., for whatever reason Rodgers was unable to agree to be fully committed and decided to play mind games.
Why did Rodgers sign a three year extension? What was the point of that. He should have just requested a two year deal with all the money pushed into the second year. Maybe the packers were unwilling. I don’t know but it just seems Rodgers had one foot in the door but was okay signing a 150 million three year deal., so I feel he doesn’t get to then claim packers should just do right by him. They already did by making you yet again the highest paid player.
HonestlyYoop is extremely right about that, I must eat crow there. Yoop was very adamant the packers never gave Rodgers an extension. While he was already under contract. I was very confident the packers would give him a raise., to return.
I failed to see it then but I see it now. Unfortunately it’s too late Rodgers convinced the packers to sign him to this contract., so because of it the Packers decide if he plays in NY.
Which to me means the packers have the leverage. While it’s expensive leverage they do have the leverage and the jets have a lot of potential Earnings on the line if they fumble acquiring Rodgers.
I understand everyone is sick of all this. I am hopeful people know Rodgers is not a victim and the best way for him to help get this all done with is by callin his new team and telling., listen I am worth whatever the packers want, I am. Telling the media the packers are digging their heels and should do right by him. In fact I feel just fine with the packers spending lots of money on Love and telling Rodgers listen we will trade you sometime in the season to a team who loses their QB. We will. But for now, you’re going to be a packer because the Jets were unwilling to trade for you over drafting some new rookie.
