I haven't yet seen a guy let go who I was saying "Wow, they REALLY needed to keep that guy." Maybe Lazard, but not at what they paid him.

I think it's more a recognition of where the team is at presently. Looking at guys with a more 'critical' eye, vs. the mode of 'trying to keep it together to win one while the old guy is still here'. Call it 'rebuilding', 'retooling', or whatever you want. It's just the normal ebbs and flows of roster building in the NFL.
