I know they need guys to be verstile, and Tom certainly is, but I also felt like consistently moving Tom last year hurt his growth, as in training camp alone he practiced at LT, then RG then LG, and then Hanson went down and he was practicing as the backup Center, and then RG and RT...


I honestly don't know why Tom wasn't practicing at RT from Day 1 last year... with Nijman at LT and Bakhtiari coming back... I assume it's because they were hoping Bakhtiari and Jenkins at RT was their dream or hope solution.


I know they need to see different lineups, but I hope they let Tom focus in one spot enough to really get that down. His run blocking needs work, I don't think he'd be best at OG, but he has elite pass blocking potential.


Currently I see Bakhtiari and Jenkins ad the clear top 2, and Meyers, Runyan, Nijjman and Tom joining them as the clear top 6... at least heading into camp, as there is a lot of youth and whom knows how much one of them might break out. Probably Newman is #7 to start... with a ton of room to grow, but man did he look awful last season... but sometimes being benched can wake a guy up, so wait and see.


But I do like them saying Center is NOT locked, as fans defend Meyers a lot, because he hasn't sucked as much as Newman... but really Meyers has been average and inconsistent at best. He does have a lot of potential, but he hasn't been able to currently pull enough of it out.
