NFL teams want their nicknames to be trademarked, so that knockoffs can't be legally sold.

And the Washington Commanders trademark attempted failed ... as the trademark office rejected the attempt as too many other things are called Commanders.


So a new nickname is most likely coming, sooner or later. Though making this process harder is the fact that trademark speculators, have taken up a ton of the potential names, in hopes the team would have to buy it from them with a 10,000% upcharge of course.

(Note 10,000% was made up... but some of them had crazy expectations, like a minority ownership stake or free lifetime season tickets (on top of cash))
