1.25 CB Kool-Aid McKinstry, Alabama
I'm thinking one of the top 5 CBs will drop to 25 and it's a better group than normal.
Trade 2.41 for 2.43 & 5.145
Falcons wanted to jump the Vikings to draft a QB and they both took QBs
2.43 S Tyler Nubin, Minnesota
The best instincts of all the Safeties, Nubin might not be the most athletic but I think his instincts and making the fewest mistakes makes him potentially the best in this draft.
2.57 LB Edgerrin Cooper, Texas A&M
A missile, the guy that Cooper reminds me most of is actually CB Woodson when Woodson was playing the hybrid LB role. Cooper had average years as a starter, but huge breakout in 2023. Cooper looks extremely slippery with great movement skills and like Woodson, he goes for some tackle attempts that leave you say, "That doesn't work" but then he (like Woodson) then consistently make it work... such as arm tackles. Those aren't consistently working for others, but Woodson and Cooper make it work. Cooper is lighter than most NFL LBers at around 230lbs. But he moves like a DB.
3.88 RG Christan Mahogany, Boston College
Great 2021! ACL took his 2022, and 2023 was good. Mahogany doesn't have Gute's preferred height, but Gute has had a small history of drafting OG from new coaches schools (Jenkins/Rhyan) and he plays the position that we're in need of filling.
3.91 CB Jarrian Jones, Florida State
Slot CBs that's tall for a slot CB at 6' and meets Gute's minimum weight. Jones has mostly played at outside CB, but this last year he moved into the slot and played absolutely great especially.in man coverage.
4.125 RB MarShawn Lloyd, USC
There is no doubt Lloyd has the skill set to play in the NFL, the questions for him are get he stay healthy and hang onto the ball. He's an electrifying player when healthy. Can be used in the passing game too.
4.135 DT Khristan Boyd, Northern Iowa
6'2" 320lb DT, Boyd dominated smaller schools, but there were questions if he could hang with the big schools. Then he dominated all the Senior Bowl players and those questions have basically disappeared.
5.145 CB Dwight McGlothern, Arkansas
McGlothern is under 190lbs so clearly under Gute's preferably weight of 200lbs, and he's only average against the run in college, so he'll probably be sub-average in run defense in the pros. BUT! He's over 6'1" and this last year he covered extremely extremely well, so from a pure coverage standpoint he gets selected.
Trade 6.203 for 6.213 & 7.252
49ers wanted to trade up for a RB and I still got the guy I wanted.
6.213 SS Kenny Logan Jr. Kansas
5'10" 215lb, basically an undersized LB playing SS, very good PFF coverage grade, but he's one of the few DBs I've seen being willing to dive into the hole and meet a large RB head up in an Oklahoma Drill live on the field and his highlights have a number of them. He's going for the full tackle not a low tackle like other DBs would. He's also played in the slot, though I wouldn't nessarily put him there against slot WRs, but maybe if you want a slot SS with good run defense you could put him in the slot against run heavy teams or situations.
6.217 LB Dallas Gant, Toledo
6'2" 230lbs, Gant was on Ohio State with Jeff Hafley. Gant spent 3 years at Ohio State, when it became clear he wasn't going to get a chance to start, he transferred home to Toledo and dominated both in run stopping and coverage.
6.219 S Kitan Oladapo, Oregon State
6'1" 215lb, some consider him a Swiss army knife as he's been used every way possible a Safety can be and very versatile in many different roles, sorta reminds me of former Packers SS Sean Richardson. Oladapo might have less power but better deeper then Richardson. Oladapo might be only 6'1" but he's long legged and almost looks a bit awkward like 6'3"+ CBs in transitioning, or not the quickest, don't want him to cover a slot WR, but most TEs he should do fine. He might never be a King of a trade, but he can still be a jack 9f a lot of them.
7.246 RT Roger Rosengarten, Washington
No way he falls this far, he might be a one trick pony, but that one trick is being an extremely athletic linemen that gets in the way... which he might be extremely lacking power and sometimes get over aggression or unbalanced as he's playing.too aggressively, he's still a very good pass blocker. But still, there seems to be a couple.of interesting developmental OT late. And if you really want to throw a hail Mary (I don't think Gute would) but there is Miami's Zion Nelson whom people thought was a future 1st round pick in 2021, but knee injuries taking away his last two years before they got started.
7.252 OT J.C. Davis, New Mexico
Two years starting at LT with a big jump this last year, but still a small school opponents. But might be able to develop him.
