I would argue this concept is applicable to DeJean more so than any other prospect in this class. If DeJean is coached by a Demeco Ryan or a Steve Soagnolo, I’m all for it. But Jeff Hafley? No idea.
I actually don’t love DeJeans fit in this defense. He’s at his best when he has his eyes on the QB and can read and react. He has the length to play outside man, but it’s not where he excels. So I’d argue a zone defense is his best opportunity.
Some say a move to S is best for him and I can see it, but not in a single high role. I think he’s more a SS role.
If GB took him, I’d actually want to see him in a STAR role. He’s a great tackler, great at supporting the run, and a move inside allows him to keep his eyes forward. I think that could be a working formula.
But my honest hope is someone takes a chance on him before GB does.
