LB Roquan Smith was fined for a tackle that injured WR Chris Godwin. With the NFL claiming it was a hip drop tackle.

NFL hearing officer (and former NFL WR) Jordy Nelson reviewed the case when Smith appealed it and said it doesn't meet the NFL requirements to be called a hip drop tackle.

I still think the NFL is mainly finding ways to get the defenses to soften up even more, in an effort for less injuries, and more star power, and they don't have to pay so many backups.
