Hmmm 🤔 I'm thinking they're going to option B with the defensive scheme.


Option A was to improve the DL talent and be able to get pressure with just 4 players...

But certain FAs that they went after didn't sign, and the DT talent didn't fall as they thought might happen...

And they pivoted to option B which is a blitz heavy scheme, which is where Collin Oliver and Isaiah Simmons come in as 240 lbs pass rushers.


There was hope that Simmons could do everything at LB and S, but that hasn't happened at the NFL level. Based on PFF grades I'd say his best roles are as a coverage LB, or blitzing from the nickel/dome roles.

He has struggled to coverage as a DB, or defense the run as a LB.
