Watching his highlights it might be hard to understand why he's only getting minimum, but if you watch his lowlights it might make a lot more sense.

Of course, one issue, I think is that he's been labeled a S/LB hybrid, and teams keep putting him in Safety roles I think out of necessity... but he's struggled in coverage in the DB roles. When at DB, he excelled at blitzing.

When at LB, which has been a lot less, he's excelled in coverage, but struggled against the run.


I don't know what the Packers new defensive scheme is, but I think the ideal with be putting Simmons in a coverage LB role that surprise blitzes at times. And Packers could be use him a bit differently that his past teams have.

The closest would of been his best season in 2023 with Wink Martindale as his defensive coordinator, but the Giants let him go, and in 2024 Simmons LB snaps went down and his slot snaps went way up.
