The ironic part about all of the CB kvetching is that we had our answer back in March, but few fans paid attention. The Packers had bet on Jaire for 4 seasons- and in 3 of them - he didn't last the year. There was no way the Packers were gonna bet on him a 5th time, especially now that he is a little older. Gute knew this back in March and grabbed veteran Hobbs

Nixon, Hobbs, Valentine and Bullard are a fine group of CBs and you have a plethora of ascending youth behind them. We also have Hafley who is a DB specialist + Ansley, another DB coaching specialist along with Ryan Downard to get these guys ready. And let's not forget the talent at Safety

If you listen to Hafley talk in his presser- he told us what he's looking for in his CBs and toughness was one of the biggest criteria for him. (INTs too)

Hafley and MLF prefer a zone-type pass defense with eyes on the QB- they don't require a shut-down CB who can hang in man coverage. (They need to do it occasionally, of course)

The Cover-3 defense likes the stouter, tougher guys (Dick Sherman) over the sticky CBs because they need to rough up the WRs and handle the run game.

45 % of the snaps are runs and CBs gotta play a role there. Another part of the CB role is blowing up all the sideways WR screens.

Those are the guys Hafley wants.

Fans looking at FA CBs right now are about 3-4 months late.

The Packers shored up the CB room back in March, upgrading the 600+ snaps that Stokes and Ballentine played last year.

Even without Jaire and with Stokes playing, the Packers pass defense was # 11 in the league in terms of opponent passer rating ( 89.3)And that was in Year 1 of the new defense.

In crunch time of the 4th quarter when teams are trying to catch up - Hafley's defense was # 1 in the league in terms of points allowed in Q4.

I'm with DTB on this one - Packers CBs will be just fine in 2025.

And hats off to the guys who mentioned pass rush- our new DL coach Demarcus Covington is a HUGE upgrade to all of the DL players. He's been schooled by the defensive master himself (Belichick) for 5+ years
