UDub summed it up extremely well, that being said Wink Martendale seemed to be his best year, playing as a LB in an aggressive attacking scheme. But Martindale got released after only one year together.

It seems like Simmons best roles have been coverage LB, and blitzing from the slot.

And worse roles have been coverage as a DB and run stopping as a LB.


But Wink Martendale wanted him to be an aggressive LB, and that might be his best season, using him for coverage and blitzes from the LB spot. He's going to need some protection from the OL for run plays though.

That being said, it sounded like Clark was saying they're going back to some of the 3-4 stuff up front, which means more protecting the LBers and more blitzing from them.

I think Simmons basically needs to be in a blitz happy 4-3 OLB role, which is why I assumed he was going to end up on the Vikings. As the system we ran in 2024 doesn't fit him, but sounds like we're changing up our system and going towards a more Vikings like system.



In the right system, I think he can be very good, but maybe only in the right system for him.
