RIP Ryne Sandberg

I know many of you are Brewers fans but yesterday the sporting world lost one of the finest people to ever don a uniform. Ryno lost his battle with cancer yesterday at the young age of 65. He totally played the game right, always with class and without ever showboating. A few years ago, the Sandbergs did a remodel of their home. The electrical company that my son is co-owner of was contracted to do the electric work. My son and one of his employees did the work. He said that Sandberg was very down to earth and pleasant to talk to. His basement was like a museum. His MVP trophy, his Golden Gloves and his Silver Sluggers were all displayed there. He took the time to talk with my son about his career. One day my son told him that he would be leaving the job a little early as it was my grandsons' birthday and they had a party planned. Ryne opened up a closet door and pulled out a jersey signed it and gave it to my son and told him to give it to his son as a present from him. My grandson was too young to watch him play but that is one of his most prized possessions. RIP number 23.
