That being said, I don't think your two positions conflict with each other. Multiple sports can absolutely help you become more rounded, and at some point, narrowing it down to hone in and focus on on one helps.
My issue with the Morgan situation, is two fold...
1) Very different positions
I can argue for a guy working on the left side, or the right side, or both OT or both OG... but OT on one side and OG on the other? It can be done, but surely that has to take a larger adjustment than any of the other mentioned options, and slow up his development a bit at any one. Maybe not a lot, but at least some.
2) OT skillet in OG body
The whole "short arms" thing is overplayed, yes, they say the prototype is 35" inch arms, but a decent number of stud OTs have 33" or 34" inch arms. That being said, when you get below 33" (which Morgan BARELY is under 32⅞"), outside of Mark Tauscher, I can't find any other successful long-term semi-modern OT starters to compare to.
Mark Tausher (32¼", so ⅝" shorter than Morgan) did it, so it CAN be done, but also Tausher played in an era where the DE lining up over the RT was supposed to be a power DE. In today's game, both DEs are looked to be good primary pass rushers.
And I'm just not totally sure where Morgan's best fit is...
Also, there is my bias, as I thought they would of had Morgan off their board due to arm length at OT, and I had OL Graham Barton as the better interior OL, as Barton has a bit more power and can and does play Center as well. And the Buccaneers picked Barton one pick after Morgan.
Barton started at Center for the Buccaneers, but I think you could also say he did poorly (but better than Myers).
