To be clear, I don't have details about what the agreed deal is... just about what the rumors were.


But supposedly, ESPN was losing money because they had to buy the rights to show the games... so they were trying to give sports leagues an ownership percentage of ESPN in exchange for rights to show games and clips for free, since the leagues were a part owner.


And the NFL was trying to off load the NFL network, because frankly, they don't know what they were doing and clearly felt uncomfortable doing it, as the NFL hates the media and doesn't know how to be the media. And they were losing money on that too.



So I'm assuming both sides are getting something in multiple ways. And fans are getting a monopoly, which might be very good or very bad..
