I think his presence open up more scheme wise than most realize, you often need a speed guy to keep a Safety deep and open up the underneath routes and when that speed guy is also 6'4", that helps even more.


Also, I'm not sure the lack of successful deep balls is on the WR or the QB. So often the WRs have to stop and wait for the ball, letting the DBs catch up.


That being said, I can see LaFleur drooling over the possibility of having BOTH Watson AND Golden healthy and available at the same time, double go routes on both sides of the field.

Either the defense REALLY opens up the middle, or has to give one of them one on one coverage deep.
