Jaguars actually paid money (lost cap space) to release S Darnell Savage.

I wonder what happened there.

Savage was being demoted to backup after horrible play, and he's guaranteed his $2.8 million, Jaguars decided they rather play him to go away, AND ampay for a replacement, than to keep him on the roster.

For an article I read (might be biased) seemed to blame the coaching staff for not using him as a nickel/slot CB/S like was the supposed plan after signing him. And suggested the coaching staff was playing favorites.

PFF suggests Savage's play has been absolutely horrible.

Not sure what's happened, but I would LOVE to sign him to the PS and see if he can work ha way back up into the line up on a winning team, but also giving him the flexibility to release him if he's having attitude issues.


Most NFL contracts have off-sets, so teams wouldn't be competitive to pay him on a one year deal, unless it's more than what the Jaguars were paying him (which is probably unlikely), or future years.
