But despite what people have said, the Packers seem to be huge on taking drafting a player in an important role, with the veteran going into their contract year.
With Watson, Doubs, and more WRs I think going into contract years, I believe WR was a huge need in the Packers eyes.
Of course you also had Clark going into the last for sure year, while he had more years on his contract, there was no more guaranteed money, and I think the Packers were thinking about dropping the contract and according to reports, Clark got into the trade talks not only for Parsons, but also for Bengals Henderson before Parson was on the trade market, so I'm speculation the Packers were trying to get out of that contract as well.
But they still had Wyatt with the option year, so I think the need (not that it would of been the deciding factor) but in the Packers minds, the need would of been bigger at WR.
And I don't think people thought Golden was going to drop that far, and Packers need a speed WR to keep Safeties deep, and Watson is recovering, I think they probably would of gone with Golden thinking they have Clark and Wyatt for another year or two and need a speed WR now, to develop while Watson is recovering and be ready in year 2 in case they aren't able to re-sign Doubs and or Watson.
