LaFleur admitted that going for it on fourth and eight was a mistake. But said he did it because possessions were at a premium. The reasons possessions were at a premium was because our defense could not stop the run and get off the field. They deserve every bit as much blame as the offense for this loss. They let Carolina keep our offense off the field. They affected game management decisions.

I agree with the many experts on Twitter that are saying LaFleur needs to let Love loose. All these screens etc hamstring him. We are 20th in passing attempts, 2nd in net passing yards. We are second in rushing attempts, 20th in yards (I think). I agree with Benkirk that the pick Live threw downfield was maybe frustration because the offense had no rhythm all day. No doubt it was a panic throw. Love needs to be more disciplined than that throw. But the play caller needs to help more.

On a side note, that near pick in the endzone on fourth down was weird. If you watch the all field view. It almost looks like Love expected Doubs to continue running and get in front of that corner, but for some reason Doubs gave up on the play.

LaFleur may have a rep as a play caller. But it is often not on display. Yesterday again. What did he say after the AZ game? Scared money what? He needs to remind himself of that.
