After being traded from the Baltimore Ravens to the Philadelphia Eagles at the 2025 deadline, Alexander was scheduled to make his Eagles debut against his former team, the Green Bay Packers, on Monday Night Football.
Alexander describes a night of "crippling anxiety" in his hotel room just hours before the team was set to fly to Green Bay. He was battling a lingering knee injury and the overwhelming pressure of returning to the city where he spent his first seven seasons.
Unable to stop "negative thoughts from creeping in," Alexander sat up in bed at 3:00 AM and sent a group text to the Eagles organization: “I’m sorry, but I don’t think I’m going to do this. I can’t keep playing like this.”
The morning of the scheduled flight, Alexander went to the Eagles' facility to deliver the news in person. He specifically sought out Christian Parker (the Eagles' DBs coach/passing game coordinator), who had been his coach in Green Bay. As reported, Alexander was "crying his eyes out" during the meeting, telling Parker:
“My head’s messed up right now. My head is truly messed up. I don’t know what to do anymore.”
