With that out of the way, are we talking out of camp, or by the end of the season? Because those are two very different questions...
Looking just at draft picks, the ones who have a chance of starting one or more games this season:
- Cisse: Unless something drastically changes with Nixon and Valentine, I fully expect Cisse to take one of the starting CB spots by year end... and the earlier the better.
- McClellan: Depends on if they're playing two DT's at the same time as a main component of their defense. If so, then yes - he'll probably start day 1 alongside Wyatt... but that's by default. Who else would be above him on the depth chart right now? If they are, it's because of seniority only... not because of anything they've done on the field. OTOH, if they only play one DT routinely, then Wyatt is the starter, but McClellan should be next on the depth chart.
- Dennis-Sutton: With Parsons down to start the year, his chances of starting alongside LVMC increase tremendously. But the depth chart at edge is pretty crowded with a lot of second/third/fourth year guys. That will be an interesting position to watch this camp and season - who rises, who falls, who can play three downs, are there any 'KGB-lite' type players who are basically pass-rush specialists, etc. With all that, it's doubtful Sutton starts this season. The question with him isn't 'starting' as much as it's 'working his way up the ladder in the rotation'...
- Smack - unless he pulls a Brett Conway, he'll be the kicker this year. You don't spend two picks to draft a kicker and put him on the PS.
The rest have little chance of starting at all unless due to injury. I will say that Burton has a great chance to become the first interior OL off the bench. It's hard to think a 6th round CB (Jackson) will blossom that quick, but the CB room is so weak that anything is possible, I suppose...
