Not sure he fell off a shelf or never got to the shelf to start with.

He was a super minor part of that trade, and probably would of been released by the Cowboys if he wasn't apart of it and was released by the Jets.

He must of been healthy to be traded to the Jets, so he was healthy there and didn't make it, and he couldn't last on the rebuilding and talent lacking Dolphins practice squad.


He was a 1st round pick on a team that desperately needed guys at his position... he got plenty of chances, and Jets also gave him chances... not sure about the Dolphins.

Now, the Cowboys did have an issue as they kept changing defensive coordinators and schemes, and Mazi Smith is more of a NT and didn't fit in the rush up the field with no NT role schemes, but he was also in others.
