The pair of them are fully engrossed in conversation, the interview seemingly having begun some time ago. As the camera moves in, Mike Anderson takes the time to rifle through some of the bullet point notes he has on his ubiquitous notepad.
(Mike Anderson): Well Hans, match number two with Buff Bridges finished as it did in match one, without a discernable winner. How do you feel about the result?
(Hans): We don't quite seem to be able to finish what we start, do we?
A polite laugh sounds out from him.
(Hans): Having said that, he had the advantage and was doing all that he could to keep it, so perhaps it was fortuitous that what happened, happened when it did.
(Mike Anderson): Are you saying that you feel you would have lost Hans?
(Hans): No. It's hypothetical, and as Buff was adamant about in the run up to the match, regardless of the situation, it would be wrong to assume the outcome.
He smiles serenely.
(Hans): So I'll settle for saying that it was another well fought draw; much like the first.
(Mike Anderson): Third time the charm?
Nodding confidently, Hans responds.
(Hans): It will be.
(Mike Anderson): And what of your next opponent in line for defence of your title?
(Hans): McNeil? Well as Vanessa and Jason so rightfully said during the commentary, Buff and I; not to mention the others in the roster, just don't see him as a threat. He was certainly dangerous at 'Road to Ruin', but so would most people when they've got a steel chair in their hands, or have the advantage of jumping an opponent before the match begins.
(Mike Anderson): How is your brother anyway?
(Hans): He's doing just fine; frankly he's more concerned over what Vanessa's told him about Jason, rather than bothering himself with McNeil and his quest to right all the imagined slights against him.
(Mike Anderson): He'll be leaving it up to you then I presume?
(Hans): Oh but of course!
(Mike Anderson): I notice that you've not spoken of any favours that you may bestow on your brother for this upcoming Havoc show. In direct contrast to, say, DNA and Eddie K when they were still friends.
(Hans): I don't agree with nepotism, and neither does Heinrich. You want it, you earn it. But nevertheless, a title shot just isn't in the works for him at the third show… same as myself actually…
(Mike Anderson): Care to elaborate Hans?
(Hans): I've dropped enough hints already over the past few weeks, although I have my doubts that the people in question have even twigged…
A sly smile spreads across his face as his gaze drifts, his thoughts taking precedence for a split second.
(Mike Anderson): Now Eddie K and AC James have control of this upcoming show, and Eddie's already spoken of putting Logan Neilson through a gauntlet match in defence of his Spotlight title, do you anticipate a match that, if not similar, is still very challenging?
(Hans): It's Eddie K, one of the most self absorbed and petty individuals ever to be involved in the HWA; of course I expect him to try to strip me of my title at the first opportunity! Even though it won't be at his hands directly, he'll still bask in whatever supposed superiority he feels he has.
(Mike Anderson): A little antagonizing, no?
(Hans): Perhaps, but so be it.
(Mike Anderson): Would you expect him to place you against Ronnie McNeil?
(Hans): I'd say that's the most likely option for him. Ronnie's said a few disparaging remarks about him recently, and was dominating him in their last match together before he decided to forfeit, so having us face off would appeal.
(Mike Anderson): Would you 'like' to face Ronnie McNeil at this upcoming Havoc?
Hans grins, his ears perking up somewhat at the mention of Ronnie's name.
(Hans): I'd love to. When a man makes a labour of a match against Lucas Valentine and Lunatik, despite prematurely attacking the latter before the match even begins, and has to resort to cheap shots and interference to make himself seem an actual threat against the champion, and then has the gall to talk as if they're the greatest; then that's just ticked all of my boxes as far as I'm concerned.
Mike Anderson jots down a brief note, scoring out one of the bullet points with his pen before looking back up at Hans to continue the interview.
(Mike Anderson): Back to the tag team champions. You seem to be making little mention of AC James, surprising considering the two of them have to be in agreement over the match choices. Why is that?
(Hans): AC's been content just to let Eddie run riot. Actually, content is probably the wrong word. Revel, that's better, he's been revelling in it, so that's why I've not had much to say.
(Mike Anderson): What do you think of their relationship? In-ring it's obviously successful, what with their capture and subsequent defence of the Tag titles. But what of outside the ring?
(Hans): I guess you could look at them like a pair of farmers in the olden days. Eddie's quite clearly the one who's ploughing, and creating all sorts of misery and pain with his actions, churning up friendships, alliances, relationships, just because they're in his way. AC could be seen as the one walking behind planting the seeds. *Shrugs* I guess we'll see the real reasons for what he's doing some months down the line.
(Mike Anderson): Speaking of friendships lost, Talon Wilkinson. How do you feel about being part of the group that will strip his title off him?
(Hans): There's going to be some bad sentiments surrounding the whole situation obviously. I can assure you that the decision to do so was Senesters and Senesters alone. I do find it slightly distasteful that he would make the other champions be the ones to actually remove his title rather than himself, but perhaps it's fitting given the circumstances, not to mention the back-story those two have.
He sighs, leaning back into his seat.
(Hans): I guess he's going to be looked at as a transitional champ afterall sadly.
(Mike Anderson): Do you think he'll be able to bounce back from this decision?
(Hans): It depends on what his current circumstances are, because if it's caused him to miss a title defence, then it's obviously something dire. Once that's resolved, then I can see him going places once more; he's too good not to be able to. As for being given the chances to get the gold, well, that will probably depend on decisions out with his control.
Mike nods as he hears this, jotting a few brief notes down onto his pad, before glancing over at the last few bullet points on his sheet.
(Mike Anderson): It's a day or two until Eddie K and AC James finalize the card for this first Havoc, what will you be doing in the meantime?
(Hans): I'll be heading to Jerez after this interview with my brother, I'll be there for a day or two before flying to Germany to visit the family, and from there it's on to Australia I guess.
(Mike Anderson): To fit in as much acclimatisation as possible?
(Hans): One of the reasons, yes. Inside the arena will of course be climate controlled, but when you're out and about, before and after the shows, I will have to watch myself. Living between Stuttgart and New York doesn't exactly prepare me or my brother for the warmer climates unfortunately!
(Mike Anderson): I'm assuming that you're looking forward to the tour though?
(Hans): Without a doubt! I've only really had a chance to visit the areas surrounding Albert Park on the occasions that I've been there before, and when it's a Formula One event, you're there for the racing, and not much else. So it'll be nice to see some of the country and its heritage in-between the shows. I'd like to visit Cheviot Beach for example, and I'm sure Vanessa would appreciate seeing a show at the Sydney Opera House.
(Mike Anderson): Well Hans, that about wraps it up. Thank you once more for taking the time to answer a few questions.
(Hans): Anytime Mike, anytime.
Mike Anderson turns to face the camera as it moves to bring him solely into focus; Hans disappearing from view.
(Mike Anderson): I'm Mike Anderson, and this has been a special edition of the HWA Roundup. Join us next time in Australia!
The scene fades to black.
