"And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it." (Deuteronomy 28:63)
It is midnight, the witching hour as some may even refer to it, and outside the illustrious St. Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney Australia a contingent of security vehicles are lined up denoting prominent figures inside and extensive security. A motorcade approaches the cathedral where along the adjacent streets the general public has gathered to catch a glimpse of Pope Benedict XVI as he makes his way to the cathedral.
He soon arrives and is ushered inside where waves of trepidation ion rush over him as he sees Senester seated on the pulpit awaiting his arrival. The Pope makes his way up the aisle and reaches Senester who simply looks down on him before holding out his hand for the Pope to kiss. Bewilderment fills his eyes, the audacity, the blasphemy.
(Pope Benedict XVI): I will not.
Senester snarls turning his hand over to bring it across the Pope’s face, but stops. Smiling he drops his hand and leans back in the chair.
(Pope Benedict XVI): I do not fear you my child. I have come to save you, to counsel you, to absolve you of your sins in the light of God.
(Senester): I am God!
(Pope Benedict XVI): No…no my son. You are just a man, flesh, blood and bone. Your mind is ill because you have not allowed God into your heart. Satan tempts you; the devils minions whisper in your ear. This is who you have become outside the footsteps of his savior. The business you do is sin….this wrestling….such barbarity, nothing prosperous comes of men fighting amongst themselves for profit. These other things you do, dirty business, swindling the poor and rich alike. Always chaos and destruction in your wake, this is not the Lords way. The unnecessary pain and suffering you inflict upon others. Your unnatural lust for men, this too is sin.
(Senester): How do I seem to you old man? Am I not the giver and taker of life? Do I not witness the rise and fall of nations at my command? Have I not the destiny, the very fate of man, woman, and child in the palm of my hands. Am I not benevolent to those who serve? Is my wrath not felt by those who tempt me?
Senester reaches out grabbing the Pope by his robes. He stumbles upon the stairs onto his knees before Senester. His aids coming to his side are swayed to remain in their place as they see Senester’s henchmen on the sides.
(Senester): Save your flesh and blood for yourself, it is you who grow old in your fragile skin. There is but one great entity and I am he. You have your fairytale God, Gods, Satan and Devils, there is only me. I am love. I am hate. I am everything you think you know and everything you do not.
Senester shoves him back. The Pope tumbling to the floor, slightly gasping.
(Pope Benedict XVI): You are an abomination. Spawn of Satan.
The Pope is helped to his feet, and from his robe removes a small glass vile. His hands thrust into the air and the Cardinals behind him watch in awe at the spectacle of his holiness going into action. They stand behind him ready to assist…
(Pope Benedict XVI): Lord, have mercy.
(Cardinals): Lord, have mercy.
(Pope Benedict XVI): Christ, have mercy.
(Cardinals): Christ, have mercy.
They continue to repeat his incantations.
(Pope Benedict XVI): Christ, hear us….God, the Father in heaven…..The Son of God, Redeemer of the world……..God, the Holy Ghost……..Holy Trinity, one God……... Holy Mary, pray for us……..Holy Mother of Jesus, pray for us………Holy Virgin of virgins, pray for us………All holy angels and archangels, pray for us………All holy orders of blessed spirits, pray for us………
The broad smile on Senester’s face finally breaks to the bellowing laughter he has tried to hold in.
(Senester): An exorcism? How pathetic!
(Pope Benedict XVI): Let us help you. Only the light of God can save you my child. Wash away your sins, sins of the flesh, sins of corruption.
(Senester): Sins of the flesh? Humph! What sin would that be…my affection for men? The desire I once had to have the man known as Talon Wilkinson by my side? My tasting of his skin, his body, his lips? Take your phony bible and eat its pages, you will see what they really are when they exit. Even those of your own enjoy the company of men, or shall I say “boys.” As for corruption…whom have I corrupted?
(Pope Benedict XVI): The names are too many. Young minds drunk on the power you give them. The idea of free-will removed and protected from all consequences. The fiendish deals you make with those to do your bidding. This is not the Lords work….it is the devils. I have heard of your involvements in Iran. These fresh new minds in your company desperate to claim your favor, eager to do anything to obtain it, they are the Lords children…and you will lead Shakir, and Evers to ruin. Look at Butch Parker, ever there was a pious man and you’ve wrenched his soul away, feasting on it like a demon. Them, and many others…you will bring them all down with you. I am but a messenger of God, I can lead you to him but it will be he who stops you.
(Senester): I know all about “Messengers.” The thing about them is that they tend to wear out their usefulness. They tend to forget their place, and must be brought to meet their maker.
(Pope Benedict XVI): I came here tonight because I thought you wanted help. Your name is known around the world, and I have known well of your dealings. This was an opportunity to intervene, but in vain the Lord’s name you assume, and in vain I have come. God be with you!
Senester watches as the Pope turns and walks back up the aisle to exit.
(Senester): It won’t be long before the black smoke shall rise in the Sistine for you.
The Pope looks back at Senester, crosses himself and turns back leaving the cathedral. Senester remains inside at the pulpit. Minutes after the Pope has left the doors are left open. Hundreds of people begin to enter the cathedral, aging from youths to the elderly to entire families. Senester looks out on the crowd with a smile, standing and stepping to the front.
(Senester): It is said that I am cruel. It is said that there are not enough ill words in existence to describe me and the things in which I do. Moments ago the leader of the Christian faith himself found himself powerless to “help” me, to alleviate me of my “sins.” What sins?
Senester points to a young man in the front row, he comes up Joining Senester on the stage, kneeling at his feet.
(Senester): Have I not loved you Brandon?
(Brandon): Yes, my lord.
(Senester): Do you not love me Brandon?
(Brandon): Yes, with all my heart and soul!
(Senester): Many of you do not recall Brandon, but you’ve seen him before. It was he who delivered the first disc to Talon Wilkinson, over a year ago on Havoc. The beautiful youth with a task of a bravery belying his age. For his service, his devotion, he was rewarded. He was taken from the streets, where the plebeians walked past him, where he scavenged for food and money. He was given a home, and he now continues his education. Is that sin?
Senester motions for him to return to his seat and he does.
(Senester): I was told that I corrupt individuals. I make people see what I see. I give them a vision of the truth for their own benefit. Pick a name in the history or present of HWA and you will find my branding upon them. The beloved ICE and Blush who were loved only because they resisted reality. Michael Dredge, a nobody, a punk fresh off the independent circuit looking to make it big. I took him in, taught him, honed his skill and made him great. Is that sin? No, the sin was his when he turned from his master and consequently met his end. Buff Bridges…he was nothing but a physical desire of men and women, and the envy of all because of it. “The House That Buff Built,” he says, and that he did, but by my tools and my design as I have said before. I gave his name greatness; everything he was, was because I made it so, everything he is now is mere remnants of my favor. Is that sin? I gave my love to the wrestling worlds precious “Reflection of Perfection” for over a year he basked in the glory I bestowed upon him, and see him now, cowering into the shadows now that my light no longer shines upon him. A champion in hiding, a man with everything to lose and nothing in the foreseeable future to gain but my fury for his rejections. Is that sin?
Children… in a matter of days, march not into The Other Side as common spectators. Enter as historians. Mark the new age form in HWA as things change from what was, to what shall be in the coming weeks. Many of you will watch in doubt, let your faith then sustain you. I am your lord and master and shall not misguide you. There are those who have walked among you who may serve me greater than yourselves, I command your support of them in their trials. Shakir and Evers are unproven, but shall soon be set upon real tests. Believe nothing until I say it is to be so, your eyes are untrained in what is real and what is not. This is what they must endure. They must overcome uncertainty, they must verify fact, they must know love, they must know hate, they must comprehend the differences in them all, and hold each at their command in order to serve me.
Senester motions once more into the crowd summoning a beautiful woman who comes up joining him. She too kneels before him and rises when told.
(Senester): She was once to be the companion of the Gladiator of God…Butch Parker, but it was Minerva who proved more worthy. She is close, but she too has much to learn and I shall call upon her. She shall be one of the tools I test Shakir and Evers with, and just as she aids in their trails she too shall be assessed. A proper introduction shall follow shortly my dear.
Senester motions for her to return to her seat, as other look at her with envy.
(Senester): Is it a sin I ask, that I have given Butch Parker the greatest gift of his life? I have shown him what his eyes have missed these many years. I have peeled back the lions lids and shown him what really matters. Butch Parker now knows in his life the worthlessness of fans…..the meaningless of championships….the insignificance of pain……he has found through me, through God what matters most, and he serves because of it. Soon, soon the lion shall be set loose from the arena…and he shall unleash for me new terrors.
As you take to the stands of the arena, let your hatred for those who do not believe in the word of God wash in waves through every aisle and seat. Spare not the young, or old of your duty to educate, to inform, to reform and to unleash new terrors of your own in my name. The weeks have been slow my children. The doubt, the ridicule has been sinking in on and from every superstar on the HWA roster. Silence is not always simply silence. Some of you shall falter to the side, but hear me my fledglings…this, is only the calm before the storm. Be stout in your convictions and I shall remember you in my kingdom.
The congregation stands as Senester turns and makes his exit, leaving the pulpit escorted by security and disappearing to the back of the cathedral which then begins to empty of worshipers, as the scene fades to black.
