He was the new golden boy, a new icon, the embodiment of a dream realized. Paparazzi would soon be swarming around him and Laney like bees to honey, their flashbulbs capturing the electricity that crackled around them both.
Interviews became a daily routine, each one peeling back another layer of the man behind the title. Throughout he has tried to keep his feet on the ground and be a humble Champion of the people. To the best of his ability, he gave thanks out to as many avenues as possible, to opponents, fans, staff and everybody in between.
Endorsement deals flooded in, each one more lucrative than the last. From drinks to high-end watches, his image was synonymous with excellence, with victory. Social media was ablaze with hashtags and trending topics, fans clamouring for a piece of the man who had finalised his legend overnight. Every post, every tweet, has been dissected, analysed, celebrated.
But it wasn't all glitz and glamour. The pressure was immense, the expectations towering. Stu-E has tried to navigate it with a grace that belied the turmoil within. There were moments of doubt, of fatigue, of wondering if he could sustain the brilliance that had catapulted him to fame. And it seemed not everybody on the HWA roster was happy he held their title.
The world is ready to watch Stu-E Price, the Ringmaster, the HWA World Champion, continue his journey, this new whirlwind of celebrity only intensifying. He wants to be a symbol of triumph, of perseverance, a beacon of hope in a world that craved heroes. Especially with his home country being swallowed in riots.
His story was far from over; it was just beginning, and the world eagerly awaited the next chapter. It’s a chapter that unexpectedly begins with Jeremy Branson running his mouth whenever he can, and his first match, although a non-title match, unexpectedly against Tobias Clarke.
As the scene fades in, you find Price standing in front of a black velvet curtain proudly holding the HWA Championship over his shoulder, off camera the lighting has been set up and angled so the belt glistens with every minute movement, every breathe he takes as Champion. He was looking forward to cutting this simplistic promo, after he ushered his first words on the previous Havoc.
There’s a calmness, a politeness to his eyes that most probably hasn’t been seen too many times
“Ladies and gentleman, before I get in to this I would just like to say thank you, these past 50 days being the first HWA Champion of the new age have been incredible. It’s been terribly humbling hearing the outpouring of support, and I hope that I can prove that I deserve it.
Monday, August 12th 2024 at the Intrust Bank Arena, Wichita, Kansas you all have the opportunity to witness the first time I walk that aisle ready for a fight with this title over my shoulder, and I think it also might be time to put together a new entrance worthy of a Ringmaster and World Champion, don’t you think?”
Price smiles, there’s a hint of his cheekiness behind his politeness.
“But let’s get back to business, Toby, since you’ve joined HWA you’ve talked so much it feels like before this you were a woman’s hairdresser, and a crap one at that. You’ve allowed yourself to be taken advantage of by Wolfy of all people and you’ve just kind of floundered, got lost in the shuffle.
Hell, at Ringmaster you were beaten by the very same guy you called a crippled veteran earlier on in the show! If I could compare your HWA career to anything, it would be that feeling you get when you’re in a nice restaurant and the Chef has put your food on a cold plate, rather than a heated one. That little sigh of disappointment you let out, that’s all you are in this business; a waste of a short breath.”
Stu-E casually shrugs his shoulders, “But… you could be more, so much more. And I can see that in you. I haven’t forgotten about our little bit of trouble backstage, but long before Ringmaster I was spending my wrestling matches elevating people and I think I can do that for you, if you just shut the hell up!
We are on the Road to Ruin, so please for the fans watching and your own god damn credibility take Wolfy out of your mind and actually show these people that you do belong here, that you can really hang with the World Champion and it might be the first time anybody watching Havoc has thought this Tobias Clarke fella is actually a decent wrestler.
You just never know where a good performance will put you in Butch’s ranking system, so for one match let’s leave our issues in the back and just fight like I want to show the World why I deserve to be their Champion, and you show the World why you deserve to be anywhere near me.”
He holds his arms out as if to say ‘deal?’, “I’ll look forward to your response, because let’s be honest, you’ll have something to say.”
As he finishes talking about Tobias, he shakes his shoulder so the title belt falls forwards in to his hands, with the earlier changing of the light angles the spotlight bounces the rays directly in to Stu-E’s face. He was going to say something about someone else, but at the last minute decided to say nothing about Jeremy or anybody else, just casually places the belt back over his shoulder and walks away, as the scene fades out.
