Link: World Setup Pics
A team of approximately 30-50 people pitched in to help. I'm happy to say that after analyzing the situation, we were able to fit in 4 extra courts for practice. The practice court situation will not be as big as last year, but it will still be one of the best our world tournament warriors have ever had!!!!!
The practice court rules will be to limit your practice time to 30 minutes if there are pitchers waiting to get on the courts. Also, double , triple, or even quadruple up on the courts during peak times. Have some fun playing cutthroat or team games and get used to the courts at the same time.
The concern over the large pillars being a spectator problem didn't turn out bad. On;y one pillar wil come into play, and there will be plenty of bleacher area for everyone to see the games.
This is a great setup for our world tournament. The facility is modern and clean and fits well to host our event.
The Knoxville staff has been outstanding! Jennifer and Mary came up to me and asked if they could help. They headed up our taping unit ( a very difficult job to do properly), and did a fantastic job! Taping the rubber mats down is a very important detail of this set up.
I want to also mention the other horseshoe volunteers...., some of the same faces that come early every year like Bob Beagle, Bill Marvin, Ron Smith, Rob and Ann Hagman,.......but also new ones this year like nhpa vice president Dave Sidles, and some folks from the TNHPA.
Here is a link to some photos of day one. I will try to get some more posted on the forum in a day or so.
