Good afternoon,
Sunday morning, the Monroe area was hit with storms producing multiple tornadoes across our parish. You may have seen images or video depicting the damage inflicted. While some residential areas received significant damage, the city itself remains largely intact.
The Civic Center area and all hotels are fully functional and were untouched by these storms.
Our airport (MLU) was in an affected area, but it was not severely damaged. Today's flights have been cancelled in order to clean up debris, but it should be back up and running soon.
This event will not impact our decision to move forward with the NHPA World Horseshoe Tournament.
We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation, keeping the health and safety of our visitors and residents as the deciding factor.
We hope sincerely that we will see you all in July.
