James Joseph Gleissner, age 82 of Mt. Vernon, departed this life on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the UK Blue grass Hospice Care Center in Lexington, KY.
He was born on March 19, 1942, in Mishawaka, IN A son of the late Frederick and Helen Gleissner. He had been a shipping manager for the automotive industry. He served his country proudly in the US Army. He was of the Catholic faith and found great joy in competitive horseshoes, (Elder State Champion and Elder Doubles State Champion) loved bowling and Bingo. He was a member of the Fraternal order of the Moose and American Legion.
Those left to celebrate his life are his daughter: Jacqueline Gleissner of Mt. Vernon, KY. His grandchildren: Ashley Carter of Brodhead, KY; Amy Bryant (Brandon) of Mt. Vernon, KY; James Gleissner II of Mt. Vernon, KY; Rica Stephens of Berea, KY; and Rachel Taylor (Jordan) of Livingston, KY; Ten great grandchildren. As well as a host of friends and neighbors.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a great grandchild: Michael Durham.
Graveside service for James Joseph Gleissner will be conducted Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 10:30-11AM at Maret Cemetery. Corbin American Legion will be performing military rites at graveside.
