Well, then, let's begin a dialogue. Let's be experimentally open-minded and see if both sides of the aisle can ever possibly come together.
I can't discuss taxation until I familiarize myself with 9-9-9, so we'll come back to all that later.
"The problem is spending. The problem is a Government that is over reaching, overdoing, and out of control..."
I couldn't agree more, that's certainly a monumental issue.
"Everything from what kind of light bulb I can use, to how many gallons of water my toilet can use in a flush, to what I can eat, to how much I can eat, to how much lawn I can have..... and it just goes on and on and on. If you feel all of this stuff is good, go ahead and live it. But why impose your beliefs on the rest of us? The left wants everyone to think they are all accepting and tolerant of everyone. Really? It seems to me they are the ones that are demanding I live my life according to their standards. And the only way they can assure I do that is to get into power and make laws that will control every aspect of my life. And in so doing, more and more freedom erodes away. And I'm intolerant???"
I don't think you're intolerant...YET. Although I care deeply about the environment, I personally believe that the planet is in much better shape than the flea-infestation of people living on it. I would not mandate those sorts of "fixes" on the public. I'd prefer the people be educated on simple facts and come to their own conclusions and live accordingly. So I agree with you. However, let's see how intolerant you think I am.
The "right" is not willing to leave the rest of us alone. They think they are all knowing, all caring, all superior, and are willing, ready, and wanting to impose their beliefs on the rest of the world.
Everything from whom I can love regardless of gender, what I can read or watch on television, the availability of services to guide my decisions about what's going on inside my female body (even if that only means visiting a clinic for the sake of my basic, reproductive health), and whether or not (as a productive and responsible member of society) I can legally smoke marijuana. . .while the right and left and everybody in-between can swill ethanol to their heart's content.
The Founding Fathers separated church and state for a reason.
HELL, YES, our personal freedom is eroding away--on all spectrums. That is NOT what the United States is supposed to be about. We should be united in our personal freedom.
"The manner in which Sarah Palin, as just one example, has been treated is deplorable. They have gone after her, her family in the most disgusting and vile manner imaginable. And yet we are the hate mongers??? Really?"
The reality is that when you open your mouth as a public figure in this country, whether you're an actor or politician or whatever, you open yourself up to opinions from all sides. Frankly, I think Sarah Palin is a cash/power grubbing idiot. If her mouth is open, something stupid is coming out. She has no one to blame but herself.
So where are we so far, Mr. Breeney? Shall we continue? I'm off to run Saturday errands and such--I'll take a look at 9-9-9 and get back to you later on that.
