I was at home along with my family watching it all on tv. My mom was innovative enough to record some of it off tv with our 8mm home movie camera. Silent, of course. It actually turned out pretty well.

I played in summer band. Our conductor announced from the podium in between musical selections that they had landed, and the concert was over and we were home in time to see Armstrong go out.
