12 nights in and 15 to go at the historic Mottville Speedway for the 2021 racing season!
We have had 5 rain outs already this season but I was determined to get the show in this past Saturday!
Wth several area tracks cancelling we had a good car count and the 2nd largest crowd of the season!
But the prediction was for rain!
We wanted to run a fast program but due to a long line it was almost 6:30 before we got started!
Would you not know it?
Far more cautions than normal!
At intermission it did not look good-dark clouds!
But no rain and we got the complete show in!
One negative-we sent a person back the pits for the 2nd Saturday in a row before the races started and at intermission with food and drink and the result was disappointing to say the least!
So we try it again this Saturday and if it is bad again that will be the end of the trials!
Meanwhile facility imprevements continue but at a slow pace!
The bounty on Robert Sutton is officially over by agreement of Sutton and the sponsors!
The $120 will be used for a future Hornet event.
We did get one of two new rest room doors installed, however.
New brake pads on the track truck and mower repair cut into our time!
Hopefully this week we get the 2nd door installed and both doors painted!
Very soon we hope to put metal siding on the building between and concession stand and the ticket booth plus the old pit pass booth.
When that happens all of our buildings will either have metal siding or concrete block!
Most already have metal roofs!
This will make for less maintenance work in future seasons!
Daniel Haab has done one fantastic job getting rid of vines and shrubs around the facility!
Really looks great!
Racing at the historic Mottville Speedway continues Saturday, July 24 with gates opening at 5PM and racig at 6 PM.
It is MID-SEASON CHAMPS TROPY NIGHT!
Trophies to all dash and heat winners and top 3 in each A feature!
The track is available almost anytime for practice by calling Scott Binkley 574-326-8720.
Practice times have been going fast!
PROMOTER'S POINT! 6-13-2021
Time for a progress report for the historic Mottville Speedway!
We started April with all rain outs-3 of them!
Then 6 for 6 in May including a super successful Bill Clewell Memorial.
First Saturday of June was a go so 7 in before our 4th rain out JUne 12.Car counts and crowds about double compared to 2019 and 2020 at this point!
I need to point out regarding yesterday's rain out that I never intended to cancel!
Once the shower was over that was it for the rain and the track dried quick due to the heat.
As I told our staff I am prepared to lost a few hundred dollars each night as long as it is not 1000's!
Physical imporvements-our biggest siding project ever-the front rr-cocession stand building!
This past week we went to work on the pit rr building!
Have the interior looking pretty good and all systems working well!
Thanks to KIRT GRUBB for his work on this one!
Want to get that building sided but our siding supplier has the viris so that is delaying things.
Overall very happy to this point!
Now lets look at the on track action!
DEFENDING SEASON POINTS CHAMPION DEREK STURDIVENT has a 122 point lead over DOMINIC HARPER and Sturdivent has 3 feature wins in 7 nights.
KYLE HARKER has climbed to 3rd and late starter TIM SANDERSON has moved to 7th.
There is chance we may run the SS to the end of October if things go well!
DEFENDING POINTS CHAMPION BROCK SWEETER has 2 feature wins and a 30 point lead over TRAVIS CARTAEUX.
However, Sweeter loves the enduros and NOD so Travis has a real chance!
FRED GARRETT has moved into 3rd!
After a late start JOE LAMBRIGHT with one feature win is in 6th.
RICKY TRENT has a 29 pt lead over Eric Mapyans!
Ricky blew his engine but now has another week to get ready!
Defending champion ROBERT SUTTON is in 3rd with 5 feature wins but not sure he going for the trophy this season!
Leading rookie JJ BROOKS 4th one point ahead of SHANE BAHYDT who has one feature win.
Veteran Ivan Trent is currently battling pnemonia ( I know how that goes) and is in 6th.
Corey Birk holds down 7th.
Practice times have been going fast!
To schedule a practice call SCOTT BINKLEY 574-326-8720.
Racing resumes Saturday, June 20 with gates opening at 5 pm and racing at 6pm!

The annual historic Mottville Speedway Awards Banquet is now over and it was extremely exciting!
Great to see everyone again!
Fantastic fellowhip, great meal, great drawing!
People really came through with the drawing prizes!
We registered 4 cars: Robert Sutton registered both a Hornet and an OLFWD for number 71.
Shane Barhydt registered Hornet number 9.
Jordan Siegel, all the way from Muskegon, registered Hornet 14.
Saturday, March 20 we hope to put aluminum siding on the concession stand building.
We wanted 4-2 person crews to make the work go fast but as of right now we only have 3.
Plus we need decent weather.
If too cold or too wet the alternate date is March 27.
However, if we are forced to go to March 27 we only have 2 crews!
We want to start at 10 am and each crew needs a circular saw, cordless drill and tape measure.
Free lunch at Jaywalkers!
So if you can help please let me know!
March 27 and April 3 we are open for hot laps from 1-5 PM.
The track is also available almost anytime for private practice if you schedule ahead.
Saturday practice is $20 each and other times $20 each with a $60 min.
Then April 10 we go racing!
We have presuaded Scott Binkley to come out of retirment and score again!
So our staff in addition to Scott is Jack Hurford, Kirt Grubb and Tom Pearson for tech inspections, Tom also for the wrecker, Track Crew-Tom Thomas, Dirk Adams and Kirt Grubb, Flag person-Eric Root, concession stand-Glenna and Sharon Root, Tickets and Pit Passes and overall boss: Judith Holden.
So we are getting close!
If you have any questions on rules contact JACK HURFORD!
The first post on our Facebook page has the schedule, rules for all 3 classes and pay-offs but here is the pay-off once again, since we really like it and think you will also!
