To say this past Saturday was an exciting night of racing would be an understatement!
Rookie Justin Garrett picked up 2 wins before intermission, Hornet points leader JJ Brooks picked up a dash win and then Matt Webster took his 2nd feature win of the season as he just held off Brooks!
Terry KLine was back and led the early part of the feature before settling for 3rd!
Meanwhile our 2 Hornet rookies were battling each other and I learned not to look away until the checkered flag flies!
I might point out that our rule is if the inside car gets up to the driver's door of the outside car the inside car has the position.
Also might explain that if the leader gets taken out after taking the white flag he is the winner.
Both rookies have bright futures in racing but there is a learning curve for both!
Audree Blankenship is just 12 years old which is extremely impressive!
Over to the OLFWD Jeff Presock won the heats but in the feature Danny Payne managed to get the early lead and then had enough to hold off Presock for the win!
I figured if anyone beat Jeff they would have to get the lead early.
First feature win of the season for Danny!
Payne must have found more speed before intermission because both heats went Presock, Fred Garrett, Payne and Jesse Terry.
In the feature it was Payne, Presock, Garrett and Terry.
Presock moved to 6th in the points, and Payne cut Garrett's lead to 108 points.
Blankenship has an 84 point leader over JUstin Garrett for ROY and Brooks leads Webster by 60 points.
10 nights in and 21 to go!
Big July coming up!
Monday, July 4 we will open at 3:30 amd race at 5 pm with the OLFWD ging for $400 to win and the Hornets $250!
July 23 the MIN CUPS return to MOttville and July 30 is Mid-Season Championship and our first trophy night of the season!
After all that heat last week 79 with a nice breeze sure felt good!
Great to have Jack HUrford back with us as head tech guy!

Last Saturday was yet another great night of racing action at the historic Mottville Speedway!
Fred Garrett with his first feature win of the season on his 8th try!
Danny Payne still trying to get the bugs of the 59 OLFWD car but still now solidly in 2nd in the points behind Garrett!
We had a newcomer-Derol Severy in the 65 car!
Good looking car but had a miss all night!
When they get rid of the miss this will be a fast car!
Feature win #6 for Brock Sweeter in the Hornets.
2nd to JJ Brooks who keeps his points lead and a good night nfor Matt Webster still in 3rd!
Amazing rookie Audree Blackenship won the dash and a heat and was just starting to move up in the feature when fuel issues developed!
Keep your eye on this young lady-she is just 12 years old!!!!!
Rookie Justin Garrett has shown great improvement thus far!
Imagine 2 rookies in the top 5 Hornet points!
George Flowers back in the G3 car which is a very competative car!
Roy Flowers back and went from 20th in the points to 9th!
Although we had a few dark skies around it was a great night for racing at 75 degrees!
Cynthia Heileman has been doing an outstanding job asour photographer but she also painted the concrete block building in front and helps where ever we ned her!
Much appreciated!!
Her husband, Patrick Hare, is doing the announcing and gets better every week!
Also does a great job on making flyers for special events!
A lot of buzz around the track about the Crown Vic class!
Appears it will be very popular!
If you are building one let us know and give us a date when you feel yur car will be ready to race!

PROMOTER'S POINT-JUNE 8. 2022
Well Saturday night was one of those nights you can count on having every season!
First of at least 2 huge shows at other tracks, then sprinkles from 3:30-5 around MOttville but I am told heavier in Niles and some other places.
Again, TWC was correct-.03 inces of rain.
Even if we were still running SS we would have raced!
But one huge advantage with what we are racing is we will only cancel for lots of prolonged rain or for cold!
Plus the first Saturday of June is always a downer for car count and crowd because of graduations!
Exciting racing for sure!
Audree Blankenship led 18 laps of the 20 lap Hornet feature!
Her first feature is coming but this one went to JJ Brooks!
Rookie JUstin Garrett first heat win ever!
I understand he will be in a new car this coming Saturday!
Matt Webster appeared much faster and Terry Kline, in a new car and a Hornet, has now moved into 8th in the point standings.
For the OLFWD Travis Carteaux finally picked up his first feature win and I predict many more as that car is just plain fast!
Danny Payne already up to 3rd in points and only 2 out of 2nd!
Fred Garrett with 106 point lead!
One of the many frustrations of this young racing season has been our pa sysems in front and back!
Opening night we ruined one and night 2 the other and every since then been searching for new ones.
Made 5 trips to Sweet Water Sound in Ft. Wayne before finally getting one that works!
And ordered one from WalMart and got it Friday and it works so we have a back-up!
INteresting on WM-I have gone to their Kendallville store twice for electronics and told both times they do have what I want but they never mention I could order it on their web site and they have by far the best price!
Jack HUrford still laid up with a broken arm, may be back this Sautrday and may not be until June 11!
I know we miss him!
The big news of this week so far is that the track shirts are in!
So all staff members will be wearing an official track shirt starting this Saturday!
We will also have a very limited number to sell-t shoirts with a pocket!
After receiving a message from a fan Saturday night I think I need to clarify what the white line is coming out of turn 4.
That is for the flagger-give the green before the cars cross the line.
But the drivers are free to pass once the green comes out!
Saturday it is open 5 pm and race 6 PM and Monday it is open 5 pm and race 6 PM!
Adult admission $15, ages 12 and under $5, pit pass
$30, registration for season $30.

PROMOTER'S POINT-MAY 25. 2022
Yes we got the entire show in Saturday with not a single drop of rain!
But we are about the only area track that could pull this off without losing thousands of dollars!
But because we only run 4 cylider cars we made it!
While the OLFWD count was very good the crowd was very small even by our standards!
But we wanted to race and we did!
I figured if it did rain we could dry the track because only .03 inch of rain was expected!
In short you can get the cars but paid admissions is another story!
May is not quite over yet and tracks are desperatly making adjustments!
I understand-we all have the same problem to some degree!
I had to relace 2 pa amplifiers which used to cost $79 each and now cost $376!
2 well pumps which used to cost $129 but now cost $179!
Plus we pay the same price you do for gasoline!
And this has sure been the seaon for expense!
Seems the plumbing expense never ends and now we $250 for mower repair!
The decision for us is now the MINI STOCKS!
In 5 nights we have had car counts of 4, 0,0, 2, and 3.
Not good but we see what happens this week-end before making a decision!
Before this season is over tracks will be making changes but Mottville is in very solid shape and we intend to stay that way!
No one mentioned it but with just 5 Hornets we paid the full feature pay-off of $150-90-70-60-50!
For the first time we paid the OLFWD $250 to win!
The OLWD really put on a show!
Matt Elsey, Jr. really put on a show in taking the 20 lap feature!
Extremely fast car!
Danny Payne a very impressive 2nd!
Duane Green 3rd!
First ever feature win in the B for Adam Wattles!
Dinah Jean won a dash and heat and moved to 2nd in the points while Payne is already 4th!
Joe Carlin up to 5th!
Fred Garrett still having problems yet he still leads the points and by an impressive amount!
May 28 Brock Sweeter will not win his 5th Hornet feature as he will not even be at Mottville!
JJ Brooks with a 23 point lead over Matt Webster.
Jack Hurford is out until June 11 with a broken arm and we sure do miss him!
Fantastic job by 2 newcomers to our staff-Ashely Walton and Cynthia Heileman!
Ashley flags like she has 10 years experience and Cynthia's photos are the best!
Plus Cynthia has been power washing the cement block building and painting it so it is much brighter!
Tracy Brooks, back for another season, continues to show she is the best drawing sales person we have ever had!!
May 28 we start our first double header week-end of the season!
Saturday it is open 5 pm and race 6 PM and Monday it is open 3:30 pm and race 5 PM!
Racing Saturday and Monday with Monday the OLFWD going for $400 to win and the Hornets for $250.
Adult admission $15, ages 12 and under $5, pit pass

Night number 4 is now in the books for the 2022 racing season at the historic Mottvile Speedway!
Went very smooth as our new staff members are adjusting well!
This season we have 3 new staff members-Patrick Hare who just took over announcing with Scott Binkley now doing just the scoring, Cynthia Heileman who does a fantstic job with the photos and flag person Ashley Walton who has been very impressive!
Plus despite mower problems the staff got a lot of mowing done and starting painting the cement building after power washing it!
Looks nice and bright!
These 3 all need Track Shirts which have been order but will not be ready for 3-4 weeks!
Biggest news mid-week pout of Mottville is the new Hornet pay-off based on 8 cars-$150-90-70-6-50 OUT!
On the the track Joe Carlin, driving a beautiful car, managed to hold off Danny Payne for the OLFWD feature win!
Danny says he will be back this Saturday driving his Hornet after driving the April Patterson car last Saturday!
How about that feature pay-off? $200-140-110!!
Veteran Fred Garrett padded his points lead and while we still have 23 nights to go Fred is sure in a good position for the season points championship!
On the Hornet side Brock Sweeter is 3 for 3 in feature wins!
JJ Brooks has a 20 point lead over Matt Webster.
What can I say about rookie Audree Blankenship!
On just her 4th night of racing she won her first heat race ever and had to really drive hard to get it!
Very impressive!
Our head man in the pits-Jack Hurford-fell and broke his arm last week so was not with us Saturday and we wish Jack a very speedy recovery!
Well.....what did I tell you about us not beng able to afford Street Stocks?
One area track announces $600 to win and $125 to start for ss while a 2nd says $1000 to win and $200 to start!
Saturday, May 21 gates open at 5 PM with racing at 6 PM.
OLFWD, MINI STOCKS AND HORNETS.
Then May 28 we start our first doube header week-end of the season!

PROMOTER'S POINT-MAY 12. 2022
We announced Saturday that we would cease running Street Stocks after only 1 car showed up for opening night.
I had a feeling the end was in sight when only 2 SS showed for the banquet.
Then you add the increased cost for tires and fuel and I chekced other area tracks that were paying $500 to wiin and $140-$150 to start and I knew there was no way to pay that and hope to even break even!
But we now have funds to spare so we have increased the OLFWD pay-off since their tire costs have also gone up!
We were already paying them quote well but it is near the top in our area!
As far as I know we are still the only area track paying Hornets $150 to win with a $50 start pay.
Plain and simple we could not afford strret stocks!
Many have stated this season will be a season to survive for tracks and we are doing what we must do to survive!
So we move on and we are very excited about it!
Ashley Walton made her flagging debut Saturday and did a great job!
Another Hornet feature win for Brock Sweeter but JJ Brooks paded his point lead.
Rookie Audree Blankenship getting faster each week!
Jason Jones, driving a car he purchased from Dinah Jean, beat her for the OLFWD feature win and Fred Garrett stayed atop the points!
Anther very expensive week for your truly as we had to buy a pa system and well pump both!
All this rain has sure made the grass grow and at the historic Mottville Speedway we areway behind on mowing!

PROMOTER'S POINT-MAY 5. 2022
STREET STOCKS have their opening night this Saturday at the historic Mottville Speedway!
We are looking foward to seeing them again!
Each year our field of SS gets stronger!
2 nghts in so far this season and I do believe we were onLy track to get a show in last Saturday in this area.
I had ssent a meswsage to our track staff that we would be racing so thye were ready!
Yes, most certainly there was a fair amount of luck involved but forecast (in the small print details) was for only .01 inches of rain each hour from 5 PM to 8 PM.
But I figured if they missed the forecast worse case was we get a shower, dry the track and resume racing!
Remember the forcast was for widely scattered thunder showers and that is just what we got!
MOTTVILE was Brock Sweeter's 3rd chouce for a place to race Saturday but he won the Hornet feature and 2021 ROY JJ Brooks took over the points lead with Matt Webster 2nd!
Corey Birk in 3rd and rookie Audree Blankenship 4th!
Super fast Will Slaughter won the OLFWD with an impressive 11 car field!
Veteran Fred Garrett took over the points lead!
Tobias Wheeler, another super fast car, took 2nd in the feature!
Two more very fast cars followed in Rodney Russell III and Carlos Pizarro!
Those 4 cars are really fast!
Why Randy Rozer wanted us to cancel so badly is beyond me!
I know it was raining in 3 Rivers but the track in Mottville was dry!
ASHLEY WALTON becomes our 3rd flag person in 3 weeks but she did get some tracticein on the featuers last Saturday with some instruction from Eric Mepyans.
Eric says she will do a great job!

OPENING NIGHT APRIL 23 at the historic Mottville Speedway was a huges success!
Great, exciterd fans and some very close racing!
PLus our new PORK BURGERS were a huge success!
DINAH JEAN, MATT WEBSTER AND TYLER EVANS EACH WON A FEATURE!
We found out right awaythat COREY BIRK is fast as he won the first heat.
But MATT WEBSTER ended with points lead for Hornets after holding off JJ Brooks for the feature win.
Audree Blankenship has a huge cheer section!
Veteran driver FRED Garret had lots of mechanical woes but hopefully they are gone.
TERRY KLine says this new car is the fasest fwd he has ever had!
Boy oh Boy did we ever have some great looking Mini Stocks!
TYLER EVANS HAS AN EXTREMELY FAST CAR AND LOOKS SUPER GREAT AS WELL!
But having said that Mikie Eldridge in the 91E car, Trea Eldridge in the 81 and Zane Lacky in the 35 match up well in speed and beauty!
Cynthia Hare offered to paint thge interior wall east of the concessioin stand plus the cocrete building if we supplied the paint.
So, needless to say Sunday we bought the paint!
When I looked at results at area tracks I saw a lot of drivers running a heat and a feature and taking home $25 after paying for a pit pass!
Would not have hapened at Mottville!

PROMOTER'S POINT-APRIL 22. 2022
ONE MORE DAY UNTIL OPENING NIGHT AT MOTTVILLE!
After 3 nights of miserable weather forced 3 cancellation it looks we will finally open the historic Mottville Speedway for racing on April 23!
When it comes to March-April racing wr are the most experienced track in our area and I can you as we enter year 32 of ownership there is no predicting it!
Last year we got both pre-season hot lap sessions in but lost all of April. This year we lost both pre-season hot lap sessions but it sure looks we like we will get several of the April dates in.
II always figure everything prior to May is a bonus!
OLFWD & HORNETS plus we have been asked to add MINI STOCKS which we will do with a feature pay-off(based on 8 cars min) $200-100-80-70-60 out!
Curious things about the Mini Stocks.
They have always been one of my favorite classes!
So ;last fall I was approached by several people to add them since Angola had dropped them.
I agreed and published rules and pay-off.
Then I noticed the same people wo had approached me were now approaching other Saturday Night tracks.
So I had to wonder if there were enough cars for multiple area tracks on the same night.
PLus I have been crazy about 4 classes of car, preferring 3.
But now I am approached again so we shall see.
As long as we can get a decent car count we will run them weekley.
I am setting bar very low-5 cars.
But 8 for full pay-off.
I remind one and all it was the historic MOttville Speedway that started Mini Stocks in our area!
