At least now there's proof of what happened. My years were earlier, but a younger cousin also attended and for a few years there was all sorts of speculation and some rumors by a few as to what actually happened. Some students from the last Berry Academy years (1981-82) blamed a fairly popular sophomore who was kicked out for being gay. Her friends didn't mind the gay part, but her mom was rich or something, so they turned on her pretty quickly and claimed the mom must have had it done to get back at the school. It was really sad because the student (Micky maybe?) loved the school and they claimed her mother was responsible. I remember thinking how sad and crazy that people could change so quickly, and jump to such wild conclusions. I wonder if the kid who was kicked out now knows what happened.
