We finally had our first frost here in Wilmington, Delaware this a.m. My Salvia splendens are in ruins. Good thing my last hummingbirds departed 2-3 weeks ago!
A newly-scorched canna...
It must not have been too
cold though because this potted fig tree under my Loblolly Pine did not get zapped... yet!
But luckily, I got many frost-tender plants in my greenhouse shed in time...
And all my tropical and large citrus are safely in my sunroom for the winter, since last weekend. Slightly O/T
- my 2 pairs of Gouldian Finches, in my sunroom, had a bumper crop of babies (a total of 15 young between the 2 pairs, just now getting their adult coloration).
Note, the rare blue mutation that popped up on left (both his parents apparently have recessive blue genes)!
Plus, to entertain me this winter, I have my newly adopted Parakeet (Budgie) who says, among other things, "No Soup for You!". He lives in the main part of the house but gets free-flight time in the sunroom.
