apparently some male hollies can pollinate females of other species for increased fruit set but don't know how this might apply to a lone female pedunculosa with say only American hollies (I. opauca) around. OTOH, as already mentioned there are self-fruiting female varieties of some species (including opauca and aquifolium for example) that need no males around at all for good fruit set. FWIW, my hybrid female I x. altclarensis (aquifolium x perado)sometimes produces some fruit with no male hollies of any sort around that I know of.
