What broad-leafed evergreens do you see in your region that are hardy?
I might suggest a combination of American hollies, Nellie Stevens (if they are hardy), and some Southern magnolias (if they are hardy there).
It's not clear by your description though, how much root competition or shade this screen will have from neighboring trees. If too much root competition they just won't grow well and provide a nice screen.
I had many large trees removed for this reason. I am now growing 'Oakleaf' holly, 'Little Gem', 'Mary Nell' holly, 'Nellie Stevens', Koehne hollies, and Photinia for a screen.
