I've been busy but I have managed to take inventory of what lived, died and thrived over the winter. Some of the outcomes were surprising. Most of these pictures are a month or more in age. The 'losers'
Alcalde Cold Hardy rosemary - no protection
This was a surprise loss. Talk about dead wood! High Country Gardens did replace it so trying round 2 (with simple protection this winter) with it.
Unknown opuntia from Tim MA
This is likely my fault. I nursed this through my move in a pot for years. Before going in the garden I almost rotted it out in the pot. Seems like I did more damage than I thought as it is toast. Tim MA - do you still have this cactus?
Another plant that 'sort of survived at my old garden. This specimen was loved being potted. It looks far worse now than in this picture. A third is dead now, another 1/3 is vulnerable. I can trim it and it may make it through another winter or two but I have had no luck with it in the long term even though I know multiple people who have. Tim, this was from you, did you ever protect it in any way?
Crape 'Sarah's Favorite'
I thought this would skate by due to its location and being buried under 3-7' of snow during the coldest part of winter. There is live wood below the wood mulch level so it will return.
