Thanks JeffZNJz6!, I really enjoyed meeting you and taking the trip down to Jersey. Here are the newest additions to the yard that I got from Jeff. I'm in z7a with marine influence, so I hope really hope the sabals make it. I've placed them in the front lawn by the driveway.
General view. yes, I'll admit, it's way exposed, but they look so pretty by the driveway! :-/ I plan to eventually get rid of the grass and replace it with stone mulch.
I got two large sabal minors 'mccurtain'. Iffy I think, them being so exposed; Will they be alright if I protect them with burlap/leaves the first few winters?
This is a Yucca faxoniana that I got from a garden center last week in rehoboth beach, DE. IF it lives, it should grow pretty tall.
Yucca recurvifolia 'margaritaville'. Such nice variegation, I have high hopes for this one. I've seen them big at the NYBG, very impressive
Yucca gloriosa 'treculeana form': Apparently this one gets massive. It is at the center of the bed
Yucca gloriosa 'narrow leaf form': apparently this one also gets pretty big
This is a needle I planted last summer, in the same front lawn. I protected it with burlap/leaves and it survived. I'm hopeful the new plantings will make it.
This is a yucca gloriosa 'variegata' that I got from Home Depot (lower center). it is in a pot sunken in the ground, and I'm wondering if it's safe to plant it outright. I've heard they are not that hardy.
And finally, I got a needle palm. The palm in the ground is a trachy 'nainital' that has lost its spear leaf. The center leaf is loose at the base and starting to brown. I think I will replace it with the needle.
