Yeah I am late just didnt really feel like posting and i also dont have any where near as much stuff as everyone else on here..but I have time today so decided to just post a few pics..
Winter low this year was 6f here in my area saved by some strange weather phenomenon that kept our temps from dropping during the freak event in late February.
My needle palm planted in 2005 went through its 11th year in the ground unprotected. I think it maybe safe to say that in z7a southern nj an established needle can survive unprotected barring something even worse than last year where we saw extended cold and -1F.
Ok so i got this cactus from Daniel back in November..and he said that i could possibly get away with planting it then. So i did..does anyone think its still alive????
Here is the other one
Unprotected sabal minor in the ground i think this about 2007..last year it was hit pretty hard but bounced back incredibly during the summer..and this winter was pretty much right on schedule
Now this minor is very interesting..its on the East side of the house unprotected..last winter it was destroyed down to basically a glorified grass blade..but shot back during the summer..and this winter being mild it pulled through pretty well...it may put on enough growth this summer to maybe keep stacking gains if winters stay anything better than the one before...
And just for some spring fever i took some pics of a few local camellias blooming this past thursday..
