Final damage report

only 3 things have dissapointed me coming out of last winter:
1. Lagerstroemia 'pocomoke'. it's past memorial day and no sign of life. I planted it in the fall and we did have a brief spell of -5F, so that might have killed it. aww. I haven't yanked it out but the little branchlets of this mini-shrub are certainly dead. running out of hope of it coming back from the roots.
2. 5gal Needle palm (multiple heads). I protected it with leaves/burlap and all the leaves fried. most of the spears have pulled. I planted it memorial day last year in sandy soil. Another large needle is fine. I guess in my marginal climate some make it, some don't. the 2 or 3 small spears that haven't pulled out may grow back, so not all hope is lost.
3. Daphniphyllum. It was fine until it started growing. it's been in the ground for 2 years, but all the new growth on the top 2/3 of this 5ft shrub have blackened, wilted, and died. only a few of the bottom branches are okay, and there are sprouts from the bottom 6 inches of the trunk. I'm so sad! It did so well during winter, I don't know what happened! maybe I overfertilized? I can't think of anything else. sad sad sad.
Sorry I have no pictures yet.
